Lights Off For Earth Hour

62 countries including Malaysia have committed to participate in WWF’s Earth Hour in 2009. This will be the first time Malaysia officially takes part in Earth Hour and our Prime Minister, Dato' Seri Abdullah bin Ahmad Badawi has indicated his support and endorsement of Malaysia’s participation.

The campaign, which hopes to reach out to more than one billion people in 1000 cities around the world, encourage individuals, businesses and governments to switch off lights for just one hour on Saturday March 28, 2009 at 8:30pm to convey their support for action on climate change. Cities already committed to Earth Hour include Los Angeles, Las Vegas, London, Hong Kong, Sydney, Rome, Manila, Oslo, Cape Town, Warsaw, Lisbon, Singapore, Istanbul, Mexico City, Toronto, Dubai and Copenhagen.

2009 is a critical year in terms of the political decisions that will be made at global climate negotiations in December 2009. Earth Hour, aims to highlight the voice of the people of the world and represent a visual mandate for meaningful policy on climate change.

If you would like to pledge your support of Earth Hour log on to http://www.earthhour.org/malaysia and sign up.

C.P (Part II)

After five days...
...and these were taken this morning

J.J was up early this morning so he continued his sleep on the couch. I know the C.P disease will be over when I saw the red spot on his foot.

I wonder if J.J is allowed to go to school next week?

C.P

No. it's not Centre Point, it stands for Chicken Pox. This happened yesterday when Lily suddenly shouted "Mummy ada 'batu' di badan J.J". When I took a look on J.J's body, they are tiny red and swollen/watery spots on his body, neck and head. By evening, his temperature was high, and we have to be with him all the time. During this time, J.J only wants to be with daddy so daddy slept with him last night. Hubby told me that J.J was shivering last night.

This morning, more spots came out. I called up my mum and she told me to get J.J to drink young coconut water. Hubby managed to get two coconut my our nearby neighbor. It's really difficult to get J.J in the house all the time. Poor him, we know he wanted to play outside, he just have to wait till he is well enough. I will apply for leave to be with him.

Down With Fever

I felt something was wrong with me last Monday. I felt tired and slept during lunch time. After work, went to buy some groceries & things for Lily's b'day party. I felt it again on Tuesday, but not until Wednesday that I know I'm down with fever. I sms hubby telling him about it. I wanted to go back early but I still have unsettled documents, so have to wait till 5pm. Reached home that day, took shower, took Panadol Saluble and straight to bed.

On Thursday morning, I had sore throat and running nose so I sms my boss telling him that I need to go and see a doctor today. I was given prescription and 2 days sick leave. The kids know that their mummy is sick, so they didn't give mummy hard time. I can't stop thinking that there are things that need to be settled in the office, but now I have to finish up my medicine and take a good rest.

Danger In A Bottle?

Did you know that a bottle can actually kill us? Well, they can. I've read an article from a health magazine regarding this matter. Cans and some plastic containers, such as water and baby bottles, may contains BISPHENOL -A (BPA), a potentially harmful chemical that can leach into our food and drink. Being exposed to BOA increases the amount of estrogent in the body which may cause health problems such as infertility or cancer. How do you tell if plastic bottles and other food storage containers contain BPA, well just turn them over and if your container is polycarbonate, a clear, hard plastic with a #7 recycling code on the bottom and letters PC, then it contains BPA. It is recommended that you buy fresh or frozen produce whenever possible, and heat foods only in glass or ceramic containers, never plastic. If you are looking for a good reusable water bottle, it is recommended that you get the stainless steel versions. Oh, one more thing, polycarbonate plastic is not recyclable. Must get stainless steel water bottle for the children and myself.
